The Church and Community Mobilization (PMEC) Project in the Diocese of Bujumbura targets the 25 parishes of the diocese as well as surrounding churches, aiming to strengthen the capacity of church leaders and facilitators to mobilize communities around the Word of God and local initiatives.
As part of the project, church leaders were trained on the PMEC process to equip them with the tools needed to effectively guide their parishes and encourage active participation of congregants in both church life and community activities. A total of 30 leaders participated in an intensive two-day training session.
At the same time, facilitators from 30 local churches received comprehensive training on the PMEC process. These 60 trained facilitators now lead Bible studies on the PMEC process within their respective groups, fostering understanding, practical application, and community mobilization around Christian values and local development projects.
The project contributes to strengthening community cohesion, promoting active engagement among church members, and developing enlightened and participatory leadership throughout the diocese
